Jewelry Party in Seattle!
| Mansoor & Gore's 18kt collection with diamonds and pearls and moonstone |
We are having a jewelry show in Seattle with Sholdt Design on December 9th from 7-10 pm. There will be drinks and snacks and gems to enjoy. This is Mansoor & Gore's first appearance in Washington while Sholdt Design has had four generations of amazing jewelry for Seattle. As a special guest our friend Douglas Mays is bringing the Wild & Petsch line of spectacular gems from Germany to peruse and if you would like to bring your own jewelry for polishing or fixing please do.
Sholdt is hosting this party, thank you! Their Studio entrance is on the East side of the giant and colorful Tully's building, 3130 Airport Way South #411 Seattle, WA 98134. Please park in front and walk around to the studio in back.
See you there!

Sprung Jewels
Blooming flowers and freezing mountain tops here in Seattle. This morning we ate at a restaurant celebrating New Orleans and my step-son Riley said he wants to go there. I would like to go back one of these vacations but in the mean time I'll imagine myself as a New Orleans artist/jeweler living in one of those hidden courtyards with fancy iron all around, peeling wall paper inside, paint stains on the ancient floors, and fresh water pearls trapped in their seams. My necklace above has every jewel reminiscent of New Orleans' feeling, texture, and color.
Instead of New Orleans I'll be in Las Vegas with Catherine Mansoor and Julie Smith for a jewelry and gem shopping trip. Hopefully we'll find some cool new artists and brilliant gems. We have found new artist Peg Fetter http://www.pegfetter.com/ who designs with steel and gold. Peg uses the steel bits found trailing after street cleaners to wrap a ring or bracelet. Come into the store to see her jewelry and after June 6th the new jewels!
Cheers,

Finally!
Ah finally it's 2010. Is that right? Is that correct? 2010. A decade ago I was in Switzerland partying near the town of Davos close to the "It" girl of England (she was wearing a gold cowgirl outfit and I didn't know her name) and watching a million dollar fireworks display. I wasn't happy that night. My outfit wasn't so great. The giant black clunky Mary-Janes looked too Alice in Wonderland for my statuesque 5'10.5". Oh well too bad, boo hoo as my friend Danny likes to say. What would I wear if I could go back? Boots and a suede jacket and a long long strand of pearls with a gold nugget toggle clasp (I'm making this necklace tomorrow after the sapphire and coral one) with the red velvet "simple" that I actually wore that night. The licorice was good at that party; the small bits with the puffy pastel interiors.
Now this year is going to be great! But not so great that we're overwhelmed by it just great because all will be o.k. I have almost finished a labor intensive bracelet that has 40 inches of precious beads woven into 5 inches of length. This picture below is blurry, sorry. I'll post a fancy shot when it is completely finished, clasp and all. It's a bracelet for Lakshmi to wear. A sort of offering. She hangs out on the wall of our store protecting us and helping our clients shop and look beautiful.

A Visit to Palo Alto
Hello!
My cancelled twice visit to Palo Alto from Seattle is finally happening this weekend November 7th, 8th, and 9th. Sunday I'll be in the store from about noon to about five. On Sundays I usually give away, at very big discounts, old friend jewelry that we love but that hasn't sold.....hmmm ready for a new pair of platinum and diamond earrings?
I just finished my fourth Mother's Necklace. It's pretty spectacular! This necklace is crafted out of 1950's and 1960's inherited costume jewelry. I've woven precious aquamarine and seed pearl strands to hold everything in place. I think an aubergine cashmere sweater dress to go with? Maybe J. Foss across the street has one!
I hope to see you this weekend!
Cheers,
